Taxi Driver Nabbed for Theft

Location: Glenwood UIP Precinct, Durban


Summary of Events:

On 21 November 2025, at approximately 22:10, Homeland Security SA Tactical Teams received an alert regarding a wanted white VW Polo Sedan (Reg: BSXXXXZZ) linked to CAS 226/11/2025, which had entered the Glenwood UIP Precinct.


After a short coordinated search, the vehicle was spotted outside a well-known lounge in the Glenwood area. Homeland Security units swiftly moved in, surrounding the vehicle and making contact with the driver.


Umbilo SAPS was notified and promptly arrived on scene. Both the vehicle and driver were escorted to Umbilo SAPS for verification and processing.


During the course of the investigation, it was later established that the driver had stolen a passenger’s cellphone — confirming the vehicle’s link to the theft case.


The suspect and vehicle were formally handed over to Umbilo SAPS for further investigation.
