On 16 May 2025 at approximately 14:45, an emergency alert was issued on the Manor Gardens Emergency Group. A grey Hyundai Accent, occupied by three BM suspects, had just committed a robbery in broad daylight. The victim, a local woman, was robbed at knifepoint of her personal belongings.

Homeland Security Tactical Response Teams swiftly responded to the scene, gathering vital information from the victim and an eyewitness. This information was immediately relayed to the Our Control Room.

Using advanced CCTV and ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) systems, operators identified and tracked the suspect vehicle. The registration number was uploaded to Snipr SA for active surveillance.

A Homeland Security officer transported the victim to Mayville SAPS to assist with filing a report. (Mayville CAS 75/05/2025)

Hours later, at approximately 22:50, the suspect vehicle triggered a Snipr alert upon entering the Glenwood UIP precinct. Unaware they were being tracked, the suspects continued driving — but Homeland Security and Glenwood UIP Tactical Units were already in the vicinity and mobilised immediately.

Upon confirming the vehicle, officers radioed for backup. Realising they had been spotted, the suspects attempted to flee, initiating a high-speed pursuit through Glenwood and onto the N3 Highway.

The vehicle was successfully intercepted and stopped on the highway, with additional support from Homeland Security units and a Patron Shield Pigeon Valley UIP vehicle.

All three suspects were detained, and the weapon used in the robbery was recovered.

The suspects were handed over to Mayville SAPS, where the victim positively identified them. Each suspect was formally arrested, and the vehicle was processed and booked under SAPS 13.
