Telkom Theft Suspects Apprehended

Location: Glenwood Area, Durban

Summary of Events:
On the night of 25 May 2025, at approximately 23:45, a Homeland Security Glenwood UIP Tactical Response Team (TRT) patrol vehicle was conducting routine patrols at the intersection of Che Guevara Road and Cleaver Road when an officer observed two (BMs) tampering with a Telkom Inserve Box.

The suspects were in the process of removing cables, aluminium, and copper materials from the box. The officer immediately radioed for backup.
Upon noticing the officer across the road, one of the suspects attempted to flee. However, our Tactical Response Unit arrived within seconds and successfully apprehended one suspect. The second suspect fled in the direction of the N3 highway.

Umbilo SAPS arrived shortly thereafter and took the arrested suspect into custody. He has been charged with theft and damage to infrastructure.

A Telkom Connect Module was recovered at the scene.
