Scenario.

Date & Time: Operation Summary

On the above-mentioned date and time, an intelligence-driven operation was conducted in the Durban Central area targeting suspects wanted for involvement in multiple business robberies.

Intel and Initial Coordination:

The intel was provided by a SAPS Umlazi Shongweni K9 member,  The intel confirmed that two of the five suspects involved in the robberies were traveling in a white Renault Triber with registration number C#6##ZN within the Durban Central Business District (CBD).
Upon receiving this critical information, the mentioned role-players immediately began to saturate the area to locate the vehicle and its occupants.

Vehicle Location & Pursuit:

A member from Urban Defence located the vehicle in the Morningside area and promptly updated his position via the “Recovery Team” WhatsApp group. Members from Homeland Security, Dew Force Security, Spar Investigation Team, and Marshall Security SOT team were subsequently dispatched to the scene.
As the suspects realised they were being followed, they attempted to flee the area by driving recklessly through traffic on Gladys Manzi Rd, opposite the Greyville Racecourse. While fleeing, the suspects opened fire at the responding members.

Exchange of Fire & Suspect Arrest:

In response to the gunfire, a member from Urban Defence returned fire, which led to the suspects' vehicle coming to a halt, facing oncoming traffic. The suspects then exited the vehicle and attempted to flee on foot. However, they were successfully apprehended by the joint team of private security personnel.

Vehicle Search & Discovery:

A subsequent search of the vehicle by the police led to the discovery of two unlicensed 9mm firearms as well as several expensive bottles of alcohol.

Ongoing Investigation:

The investigation into the suspects’ activities and involvement in the robberies is still ongoing.

Team Effort

This operation demonstrated a remarkable collaborative effort between law enforcement and private security, highlighting the importance of teamwork and quick coordination in tackling criminal activity.

*Great Team Work
