SUCCESS REPORT

Subject: Fraud Suspects Apprehended in Manor Gardens Case

Incident Date: 22 August 2025

Time: 08:30

Location: Glenwood, Durban

Summary of Events:

On 11 May 2025, at approximately 08:30 AM, Homeland Security received a call from a Manor Gardens resident who reported being defrauded by a handyman. The resident stated that she had paid the handyman to perform work at her home in Rif Road, but he failed to arrive and subsequently ignored her calls.

Using the extensive CCTV network in Manor Gardens and Glenwood, Homeland Security identified the suspect’s vehicle—a black Mercedes-Benz bearing registration ND######. The client was advised to open a case of fraud at Mayville SAPS (Case No. 55/05/2025).

On 22 August 2025, Homeland Security teams received credible intelligence that the same vehicle had entered the Glenwood UIP Precinct. Tactical Response Units, including the Glenwood UIP TRT, were immediately deployed to search for the vehicle.

An unmarked Homeland Security vehicle spotted the Mercedes on Che Guevara Road, heading toward Umbilo Road. The information was relayed to the network, and additional units swiftly joined. Upon noticing a branded Homeland Security vehicle, the driver attempted to flee, resulting in a pursuit through Glenwood. Realising he could not outrun the response teams, the vehicle eventually came to a stop on Sydney Road.

Officers approached the vehicle and detained two male occupants (2x BM).

Mayville SAPS was notified, and both the vehicle and suspects were escorted to the station, where they were formally booked for further investigation.
