🚨 ATM Machine Theft Suspect ApprehendedÂ
Incident Date: 21 August 2025
Time: 22:11
Location: Glenwood Area, Durban
Summary of Events:
On 21 August 2025 at approximately 02:30 AM, one of our valued Family Business Members in the Glenwood area fell victim to a brazen theft. CCTV footage revealed an Indian male suspect stealing an ATM card machine from inside their store.
The suspect was well known to Homeland Security Tactical Teams, and it was only a matter of time before he was located.
Later that same day, at around 10:00 PM, while our Tactical Units were patrolling, the suspect was spotted on Che Guevara Road. In a swift and coordinated operation, Homeland Security TRT together with the Glenwood UIP TRT moved in, surrounded, and apprehended the suspect.
The stolen ATM card machine was successfully recovered and returned to the client.
Critical Learning – The Importance of Opening a Case:
Despite the successful recovery, no formal case was opened, which meant the suspect could not be legally detained and was released with a stern warning.
This incident underscores a vital reality:
-
Without a SAPS case number, there can be no prosecution, no conviction, and no justice.
-
Security companies can apprehend, recover, and assist — but only SAPS and the courts can lock criminals behind bars.
👉 That is why it is absolutely essential for all victims and residents to:
-
Open a case at the nearest SAPS station.
-
Provide evidence such as CCTV footage, photos, or witness statements.
-
Keep your case number safe for future follow-ups.
If you are ever unsure of the process, Homeland Security will gladly assist you every step of the way. We are your backup no matter what — but the case number is your strongest weapon in ensuring criminals face justice.
