Location: Glenwood Area, Durban

Incident Summary:

Homeland was contacted by Mayville SAPS to assist in a fraud case for a resident residing in Manor Gardens.

The resident paid a contractor a deposit to do fencing for him at his house on Rif Road. The contractor promised to return the next day.

This never happened, and after numerous unanswered calls, the victim opened a case of fraud at Mayville SAPS.

Luckily, Homeland has over 100 cameras and numerous ANPR cameras (number plate recognition) in and around Manor Gardens.

Our control room was able to find the vehicle number plate of the subcontractor and listed the vehicle onto the Snipr database once we received the CAS number.

A few days later, on the 7th of May, we received a Snipr activation from one of Our ANPR cameras in Glenwood; we immediately dispatched teams.

Our Glenwood UIP – Homeland Tactical Response Unit spotted the vehicle, and shortly after that, another 2 vehicles attended. Vehicle and suspect were escorted to Mayville SAPS for further investigation.
