Location: Glenwood UIP

Incident Overview:

On May 1st, 2025, at approximately 13:30, a SNIPR alert was triggered by one of the Glenwood Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP) Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras. The system flagged a stolen white Toyota sedan, bearing registration number C#####ZN, entering the precinct.

Homeland Security’s Tactical Response Team (TRT) was immediately dispatched to locate the vehicle. Within minutes, the stolen car was identified on a well-known road in Glenwood. A call for backup was issued, and supporting units responded swiftly.

The Tactical Team conducted a safe approach and engaged the driver, who complied without resistance. The vehicle and suspect were then escorted to Umbilo SAPS for initial processing.

In accordance with standard procedures, SAPS later transferred the vehicle to Bhekithemba SAPS in Umlazi for final booking and further investigation.

This successful recovery highlights the ongoing effectiveness of the UIP’s surveillance infrastructure and the strong collaboration between private security teams and law enforcement agencies.
