Summary of Events:
At approximately 13:30, the Homeland Security Control Room received a panic activation from one of our valued clients on King Dinuzulu Road.
Homeland Security Tactical Units, together with the Homeland Security Glenwood UIP TRT, responded immediately. Upon arrival, members observed a young Indian male pursuing a suspect who had snatched his cellphone at the intersection of Cleaver Road and King Dinuzulu Road, before fleeing on foot toward Che Guevara Road.
The Glenwood UIP TRT pursued the suspect along Noble Road, where he was successfully apprehended.
Upon arrest, the suspect was found to be in possession of the stolen cellphone as well as a knife, which he had allegedly used to threaten the victim during the incident.
Additional Homeland Security units arrived shortly thereafter and assisted in contacting SAPS. The suspect was subsequently handed over to Umbilo SAPS for further processing.
