Summary of Events:

On 18 July 2025, at approximately 20:00, reports of suspected cable theft at the intersection of Silverton Road and Bellevue Road were posted on multiple community safety platforms.


Homeland Security teams were immediately dispatched to the location. Upon arrival, a male suspect (1x BM) was observed fleeing on foot along Bellevue Road towards the N3 highway. A member of the Homeland Security Tactical Response Unit pursued the suspect on foot, while relaying real-time updates to the Homeland Security Glenwood UIP TRT and our response units.


Thanks to coordinated communication and swift response, the suspect was successfully surrounded and apprehended on Che Guevara Road.


The Telkom Investigation Unit was notified and arrived on scene shortly thereafter. A significant quantity of stolen cable was found in the suspect’s possession, along with multiple knives and cutting implements.


KZN OCC was informed, and Berea SAPS was dispatched to the scene. The suspect and all recovered exhibits were transported to Berea SAPS for further processing.
