Suspect Arrested After Violent Break-In in Glenwood

Summary of Events:

In the early hours of 14 January, at approximately 03:00, a desperate cry for help was sent out on the BSURF Crime Alerts WhatsApp group, reporting an active break-in in progress on Che Guevara Road.


Homeland Security Tactical Response Units, together with the Homeland Security Glenwood UIP TRT, were immediately dispatched to the address.


Information received indicated that two male suspects had broken into an outbuilding, where one suspect was violently strangling the household nanny, while the second suspect was trying to steal items from the property.

 

Upon arrival  Homeland Security members observed one suspect attempting to flee the scene.

Without hesitation, officers gave chase. The suspect was pursued, and successfully apprehended within moments, preventing his escape and bringing the immediate threat under control.


The apprehended suspect was handed over to Umbilo SAPS for further investigation and processing.

This matter remains under active investigation by Umbilo SAPS.
