At approximately 14h00 on 10 September, Homeland Security, in a joint operation with Marshall Security , SAPS District Trio Tracing, Provincial Crime Intelligence Metro Trio and , responded to intelligence relating to a group of suspects allegedly involved in planned business robbery activity.
The operation developed following a business robbery on Brickfield Road in the Overport area, after which the suspected perpetrators were located while attempting to flee.
A high-speed pursuit followed as operational teams moved to intercept the suspects. During the pursuit, responding members and vehicles came under fire.
The suspects continued into the Manor Gardens area, where the pursuit ultimately ended on Mary Thipe Street.
Following the incident, three suspects were declared deceased at the scene. A fourth suspect survived.
Multiple firearms were recovered and secured as evidence for further investigation.
