Subject: Cellphone Thieves Caught

Summary of Events:

On the above-mentioned date and time, a Homeland Security Response Officer patrolling the Glenwood area received an alert via the Snipr system, triggered by the Glenwood UIP CCTV cameras. The alert indicated that a white Hyundai i20, registration BF 5## ###, identified as a vehicle linked to cellphone theft, had entered the Glenwood Urban Improvement Precinct (UIP).

The officer located the vehicle parked on Che Guevara Road and immediately informed all relevant role players via the Homeland Security Snipr WhatsApp group. Shortly after, members of the Homeland Security Glenwood UIP TRT arrived on the scene.

The Umbilo South African Police Service (SAPS) arrived shortly thereafter. The driver and the vehicle were then escorted to Umbilo SAPS for further processing.


Current Status:

  • The vehicle has been impounded and booked at Umbilo SAPS.

  • Investigations are currently ongoing.
