Subject: Hijacked Vehicle Pursued and Recovered After High-Speed Chase

Summary of Events:
On 6 October 2025, Homeland Security SA received an alert that a grey Kia SUV (Reg: BXXXXXZN) — hijacked earlier that morning in Nkandla (NKANDLA CAS 00022/10/2025) — had entered the Glenwood UIP Precinct.
Within seconds, Homeland Security Tactical Response Units were activated and began scouring the area.
A Homeland Security TRT member located the suspect vehicle at the intersection of Clark Road and Bulwer Road.
As soon as the suspects noticed our team, they sped off aggressively, igniting a high-speed chase through Glenwood’s busy streets. The vehicle weaved recklessly through traffic, narrowly avoiding collisions as it tore onto the N3 highway, then continued southbound on the N2, with multiple Homeland and SAPS units in pursuit.
The pursuit intensified as the suspects veered onto the M7, pushing speeds well beyond safe limits before abandoning the vehicle in the middle of the road near Southway Mall and fled towards the Umbilo Park.
Moments later, multiple tactical and SAPS teams — including K9, DPCI, Metro Drug Unit, and several private security partners — arrived on scene and launched a coordinated ground search. Although the suspects managed to evade capture in the lagoon area, the hijacked vehicle was successfully recovered and secured, later handed over to Umbilo SAPS for processing.
