On 9 September 2026, the Homeland Security SA Control Room received a report of a shooting at Umbilo Park on Oliver Lea Drive, with one person sustaining a gunshot wound.

ALS Paramedics were urgently dispatched to the scene, where the patient received emergency medical treatment before being transported to hospital for further care.

This incident met the Community Ambulance Fund Dispatch Criteria, and the callout was covered in full by the Community Ambulance Fund — R1,500, paid directly to ALS Paramedics.
