On 29 July 2026 at approximately 17:00, the Homeland Security SA Control Room dispatched ALS Paramedics to a shooting incident at Umbilo Park after a man was reportedly held up at gunpoint. The patient sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was stabilised on scene and transported to hospital for further treatment. Out of respect for the patient and their family, no further details will be shared.

This incident met the Community Ambulance Fund Dispatch Criteria and the callout was covered in full by the Community Ambulance Fund — R1,500, paid directly to ALS Paramedics. It is the first dispatch funded by this community.
